Machine Tufting Beginner Workshop Online & Community (Oct. 1)

Join us for an online tufting workshop with Tuft the World founder Tim Eads! In this asynchronous online workshop, participants will have access to a series of Tim's video demonstrations that discuss the rug-making process from start to finish. The online workshop covers the basics of setting up a tufting frame and backing cloth, threading and operating tufting machines, and how to cut, glue, and finish a tufted piece. 

Tim Eads will also host two "Ask Me Anything" live Zoom sessions for participants to provide guidance, answer questions, and meet each other.

Space is limited to 15 participants! 

Location: Online

Course Access: Oct. 1, at 9:00 AM EST, Participants will have access to the course for 6 weeks.

About Tim Eads

Originally from West Texas, Tim lives in Philadelphia. He is an artist, designer, and master printer in Philadelphia. He received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and has taught regularly at Penland School of Craft and Tyler School of Art. Recent exhibitions include Pentimenti Gallery, Philadelphia, PA; Delaware Art Museum, The Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington, DE. Tim's work is held in several public and private collections.

Materials Needed

The following materials are recommended for this workshop. Workshop participants will need either the Tufting Starter Kit or purchase the items in the kit individually:

  • AAT 1132 Adhesive (for floor pieces)
  • Elmers/PVA Glue (for wall pieces)
  • Roberts 8200 Adhesive
  • Phillips head screwdriver

  • Sturdy Table 
  • Paper
  • Permanent Markers
